Encontros com Daniela Labra.

Os encontros discutirão práticas artísticas contemporâneas que se desenvolvem mais além das portas da instituição museológica ou da galeria de arte. Tais práticas se constroem na possibilidade de ressignificar espaços públicos ou lugares não-usuais para a arte, procurando alcançar a sensibilidade do espectador sem a intermediação do aparelho institucional, que muitas vezes engessa e direciona o trabalho do artista. Como crítica não apenas ao poderoso sistema da arte atual, tais procedimentos artísticos assumem a busca por uma poética autoral como meio para levantar questões sociais, políticas e éticas através da experiência estética. O curso é uma introdução à curadoria de arte e ao oficio da crítica, procurando explorar as relações entre as duas. Discutirá temas atuais investigados por ambas, tais como identidade, política e globalidade. Serão analisadas curadorias, obras, ensaios críticos e textos de artistas que relatam a passagem do moderno ao contemporâneo e refletem os caminhos da crítica de arte nas últimas décadas. O curso terá 10 aulas e duas visitas guiadas a exposições.

Apexart Unsolicited Proposal Program

Apexart’s Unsolicited Proposal Program asks for 600 word idea-based curatorial proposals for a group exhibition that will be evaluated by a large international jury. Submissions are reviewed solely on the strength of the idea; no previous curatorial experience necessary.

O seminário Encontros Visuais – poéticas e retóricas contemporâneas em campo brasileiro é uma iniciativa para ordenar, difundir e mapear o atravessamento de experimentações, confluências e discursos que a arte contemporânea brasileira está travando tanto com o circuito de arte local quanto com a rede global de comunicação.

Participantes: Daniela Labra e Felipe Scovino (críticos de arte e curadores-RJ), e os artistas Luiza Baldan (fotografia, RJ), Mauricio Ianês (performance, SP) e Waléria Américo (multimídia, CE).

CuratorLab is an international self-directed curatorial course dedicated to the advancement of curatorial practices based on research in the arts, crafts and design. It is designed to offer time to conduct research and to explore new directions and ideas in order to develop artistic or theoretical work while linking academic study to cultural projects.

The program offers the participants the possibility to develop and realize one individual or collaborative project in the form of a public presentation, i.e. exhibition, lecture series, publication, screenings, seminar, for which CuratorLab provides professional feedback and practical support as well as a moderate research/production budget.
The final form, and where it will be presented, is decided by each participant in dialogue with his or her personal advisor.

CuratorLab will arrange guest lectures by professionals in the field, and provides each participant access to the faculties across Konstfack’s nine departments, visiting curators, critics and practitioners, and be welcomed into graduate seminars and classes.

Dependant on the individual aims and research topics of the participants the faculty will assist in contacting art institutions to arrange lectures, to set up meetings with professionals in the field, as well as schedule studio visits with artists and designers in the Nordic region.
Participants will be introduced to Konstfack’s Nordic and international network in arts, design and craft.

Participants are encouraged to organize public presentations within Konstfack, in the form of discussions, lectures, screenings, or seminars, for which they will receive support by the faculty.

Konstfack provides each participant with a shared office space including telephone, Internet and other amenities, and access to local research libraries.

Applications are accepted once a year, to enter in September 2010. The program is flexible. It can be divided over different intervals over the academic year and it is not required to be based in Stockholm full time. The final schedule will be determined during the first meeting mid September in Stockholm.

Language
The program is international and all seminars are in English.

Costs
Tuition at Konstfack is free of charge. The university college has no scholarships to offer students.

MA degree in fine art, art history, critical studies, architecture, crafts and design and / or equivalent working experience in independent curatorial practices or within institutions.

Artists, designers and theoreticians are invited to submit research and production proposals to become a researcher at the Jan van Eyck Academie. The application deadline is 15 April 2009.

The Jan van Eyck Academie is an institute for research and production in the fields of fine art, design and theory. Every year, 48 international researchers realise their individual or collective projects in the artistic and critical environment that is the Jan van Eyck. In doing so, they are advised by a team of artists, designers and theoreticians who have won their spurs globally.

Multi-Disciplinary Research
Artists, designers and theoreticians at the Jan van Eyck Academie work alongside each other and establish cross-disciplinary exchange. The academy is not led by predetermined leitmotivs. The research projects, miscellaneous in nature, make the Jan van Eyck a multi-disciplinary institute.

Programme
Researchers, departments and the institute organise various weekly activities, to which special speakers are invited: lectures, seminars, workshops, screenings, exhibitions, discussions, … The Jan van Eyck community and external interested parties are welcome to attend this programme. The result is a dynamic and critical exchange between the different agents from within and outside of the Jan van Eyck.

Facilities
Researchers can avail themselves of facilities that support their projects from first concept to public presentation, including the library, the documentation centre and various workshops. They can also get assistance with their print work, the editing and distribution of publications and the publicity of events. All researchers receive their own studio and a stipend.

Applications
Candidates applying for Fine Art, Design or Theory are asked to propose an individual research project. They can also indicate their interest in participating in one of the projects that are offered by the department of their choice or one of the other departments (please see http://www.janvaneyck.nl). Research candidates can apply for a one-year or two-year research period starting annually on 1 January. It is also possible to apply to do research for a different period and with a different starting date.

The Henry Moore Institute invites applications for the following fellowship programmes:

Research Fellowships are intended for artists, scholars and curators, interested in working on historic and contemporary sculpture using the Institute’s library, archive of sculptors’ papers and the collection of Leeds Art Gallery. Up to 4 fellows will be given the opportunity to spend a month in Leeds to develop their own research. With access to our resources and an on-going dialogue with the Institute staff, fellows are free to pursue their own interests in a supportive and stimulating environment.

Senior Fellowships are intended to give established scholars (working on any aspect of sculpture) time and space to develop a research project free from their usual work commitments. Up to 2 senior fellowships, for periods of between 3 to 6 weeks will be offered. We ask fellows to make a small contribution to the research programme in Leeds in the form of a talk or seminar.

Both fellowships provide accommodation, travel expenses and a per diem. The Institute offers the possibility of presenting finished research in published form, as a seminar, or as a small exhibition. The fellowships are an integral part of the research programme, presenting fresh perspectives on the Institute’s collections, opening up new collaborative possibilities and furthering research into sculpture.
