Deadline: 31.12.2009

ABOUT THE INSTITUTION
Center sodobnih umetnosti Celje (Center for Contemporary Art Celje) is a not-for-profit organisation founded in 2004 with the main mission to initiate, develop and promote contemporary visual arts in the local, regional and international context.

Situated only one hour from the capital city of Ljubljana, and being one of the most representative institutions for the production and display of contemporary visual arts in the Stajerska region of Slovenia, the Center represents a creative hub devoted to arts, culture and theory, as experienced in the specific conditions of current social, political, and economic situation. Under the auspices of the City Council of Celje and its Cultural Department, the Center has been actively engaged in the project-based cultural programming in cooperation with the partners across the region (in Maribor, Graz, Zagreb) and beyond.

ABOUT THE OPEN CALL
Center for Contemporary Art Celje announces the International Open Call for exhibition project proposals to be held in the Likovni Salon Gallery in Spring 2010. The applications will be reviewed by curators of the Center for Contemporary Art Celje, and the results will be announced by 15 January 2010.

The Open Call is addressing contemporary visual artists, and groups/collectives from Slovenia and abroad who are invited to submit a solo-show proposal. The Call is not limited by any specific topic, and is open to all media (painting, sculpture, installations, photography, digital animation, sound-based art, video, interactive and interdisciplinary projects).  The priority in the selection process will be given to the recent production that challenges a social environment, engages and interact with various audiences and/or communities. The Center for Contemporary Art Celje will provide the travel and accommodation costs for the winning applicant, printed and electronic invitations for the exhibition’s opening, and will publish an exhibition catalogue.

ABOUT THE APPLICATION PROCESS
Artists are advised not to send the original artwork, but only the documentation (photographs, sketches, video and audio material, etc.) that will present the project’s idea in detail. The received documentation will not be returned.

The application material (in English) should include:
– Name and surname of the artist/collective, address, telephone and email
– Project description
– Year of production
– Artist statement
– Technical details (equipment needed for the exhibition set-up)

Henry Moore Institute Research Fellowships (2010-2011)

Henry Moore Institute Research Fellowships
Application deadline: 11 January 2010

http://www.henry-moore.ac.uk

The Henry Moore Institute invites applications for the following fellowship programmes:

Research Fellowships are intended for artists, scholars and curators, interested in working on historic and contemporary sculpture using the Institute’s library, archive of sculptors’ papers and the collection of Leeds Art Gallery. Up to 4 fellows will be given the opportunity to spend a month in Leeds to develop their own research. With access to our resources and an on-going dialogue with the Institute staff, fellows are free to pursue their own interests in a supportive and stimulating environment.

Senior Fellowships are intended to give established scholars (working on any aspect of sculpture) time and space to develop a research project free from their usual work commitments. Up to 2 senior fellowships, for periods of between 3 to 6 weeks will be offered. We ask fellows to make a small contribution to the research programme in Leeds in the form of a talk or seminar.

Both fellowships provide accommodation, travel expenses and a per diem. The Institute offers the possibility of presenting finished research in published form, as a seminar, or as a small exhibition. The fellowships are an integral part of the research programme, presenting fresh perspectives on the Institute’s collections, opening up new collaborative possibilities and furthering research into sculpture.
